Earlier this week, we announced that Baylor had three former Bears on NBA training camp rosters with 12-year NBA journeyman Brian Skinner unsigned as of Monday's blog post.

Now, there are four.

The Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday that the Milwaukee Bucks signed Skinner to an undisclosed contract. The addition of Skinner pushes Milwaukee's training camp roster to 20 players.

A Temple, Texas, native, Skinner has played in 605 games, averaging 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 49.4 percent from the field. He played in 16 games with the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2009-10 season. The training camp signing marks Skinner's third tour with the Bucks. In his first stint with the Bucks in 2003-04, he enjoyed his best season statistically, averaging 10.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 56 games (54 starts). He returned to the Bucks during the 2006-07 season, playing in 67 games (44 starts) and averaging 4.4 points and 5.7 rebounds.

Skinner is one of four former Bears on an NBA training camp roster, joining Tweety Carter (Oklahoma City), Curtis Jerrells (San Antonio) and Ekpe Udoh (Golden State).

In August, head coach Scott Drew was listed second on Rivals.com's Top Coaches Under 40 behind Butler's Brad Stevens. On Tuesday, Drew was named head coach on FanHouse's Second-Generation Team which included three teams and a five-member coaching staff. Joining Drew on the coaching staff were John Thompson III (Georgetown), Tony Bennett (Virginia), Keno Davis (Providence) and Pat Knight (Texas Tech).

FanHouse's college sports editor Matt Snyder had this to say about Drew:

"The younger Drew has built Baylor from basically scraps into an Elite Eight team and probably made him more famous than his little brother's (Bryce) big shot. Well, OK, maybe not. But Scott's still our head man here."

Last week, Blue Ribbon released its Preseason Top 25, listing Baylor No. 16 entering the 2010-11 season. On Monday, Blue Ribbon announced its All-Big 12 and All-America teams. Baylor was picked to finish third in the league, while senior G LaceDarius Dunn was named to the All-Big 12, along with Jacob Pullen (Kansas State), Alec Burks (Colorado), Marcus Morris (Kansas) and Curtis Kelly (Kansas State). Dunn was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Year, while Kansas' Josh Selby was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Dunn was also one of three Big 12 players named to Blue Ribbon's All-America first team. The Monroe, La., native is joined by Morris, Pullen, Kyle Singler (Duke) and Jimmer Fredette (BYU). Dunn has been named a preseason All-American by three media outlets (Athlon, Blue Ribbon, Sporting News), while earning All-Big 12 accolades from four publications.

Three Bears on 2010 NBA Training Camp Rosters

The start of the 2010-11 NBA season is less than 30 days away and, for the most part, teams across the league are holding media day Monday as well as starting training camp this week. Three former Baylor All-Americans - G Tweety Carter (Oklahoma City), G Curtis Jerrells (San Antonio) and F/C Ekpe Udoh (Golden State) - will be participating in training camp this year.

Udoh, the No. 6 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by Golden State, is one of 19 players in camp for the Warriors. The Edmond, Okla., debuted at Golden State media day Monday sans cast. He is expected to make his NBA debut sometime in January.

If you remember, Jerrells was signed to an NBA contract by the San Antonio Spurs towards the end of the 2009-10 season. CJ is in Spurs training camp for the second straight year. In his first season in the NBA D-League in 2009-10, Jerrells averaged 20.7 points and 5.7 assists in 50 games with the Austin Toros.

Carter, one of three players added to the Oklahoma City Thunder's training camp roster Monday, played with the New Jersey Nets in the NBA Summer League back in July. Tweety concluded his career eighth all-time in scoring (1,437 points) and third all-time in assists (474) at Baylor.

12-year NBA veteran Brian Skinner, who spent the 2009-10 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, remains unsigned.

Baylor No. 16 in Blue Ribbon's Preseason Top 25

"College Chalktalk", online partner for Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, released Blue Ribbon's 2010-11 Preseason Top 25 this week. Baylor, one of five Big 12 rankings to be ranked, comes in at No. 16. Baylor was the third-highest ranked Big 12 school behind Kansas (No. 7) and Kansas State (No. 10). Texas and Missouri are ranked No. 18 and 20, respectively.

Go ahead and add that to Baylor's other three preseason rankings thus far: No. 10 (Athlon), No. 15 (Lindy's) and No. 16 (Sporting News).

MORE FROM COLLEGE CHALKTALK
Columnist Jerry Trickie, former Nebraska media relations contact for basketball, published his Big 12 Notebook on Monday. In Trickie's early-season look, he says Baylor must 'contain the hype', not to mention replace Tweety Carter and Ekpe Udoh. But, the Bears do have preseason All-American LaceDarius Dunn and Perry Jones, who Trickie adds, 'has been tabbed by many as the best NBA prospect in the Big 12, if not the country'.

PRESEASON POWER RANKINGS: JASON KING
Yahoo! Sports basketball writer Jason King (and proud Baylor alum) lists Baylor as one of five NCAA tournament teams in the Big 12. King had this to say about the Bears: "On paper Baylor looks to have the best starting lineup in the league with players such as LaceDarius Dunn, Quincy Acy and Perry Jones. Unfortunately the Bears have a huge question mark at the most important position on the court: point guard."

Another college basketball preview magazine hit newsstands this week and Baylor's LaceDarius Dunn is one of three Big 12 players on the cover (Dunn was featured on the cover of Athlon Sports). Dunn and freshman Perry Jones can add more preseason accolades, thanks to the Sporting News 2010-11 College Basketball Preview.

Dunn (third-team SN All-American) is one of three Big 12 players named to Mike DeCourcy's Sporting News 2010-11 All-America Team.

Dunn and Jones comprise two-fifths of Sporting News' All-Big 12 Team. The Baylor duo is joined by Jacob Pullen (Kansas State), Marcus Morris (Kansas) and Alec Burks (Colorado).

Sporting News tabbed Dunn as the Big 12's 'Top Shooter' and Jones the league's 'Top NBA Prospect'. All told, both Dunn and Jones have earned All-Big 12 honors from three preseason college hoops publications thus far.

Baylor comes in No. 16 on Sporting News' Preseason Top 25, while the Bears are projected to finish fourth in the Big 12. BU is one of SN's four No. 4 seeds in the 2011 NCAA Tournament (68-team field). The other No. 4 seeds: Missouri, Butler and Gonzaga - Baylor could play all three during the regular season; Butler is a potential opponent at the 2010 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.

Middleton Set to Join Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010
1:39 P.M., TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2010

Congratulations to former Baylor men's hoops All-American Darryl Middleton, who is among the six individuals that comprise Baylor's 51st Athletic Hall of Fame class. Middleton and the rest of the class will participate in 2010 on-campus enshrinement activities during Homecoming.

A member of Baylor's 17-man All-Centennial Basketball Team selected in 2006, Middleton earned honorable mention All-American honors after helping the 1987-88 Bears to the school's first NCAA Tournament berth since 1950 and back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time in school history (BU played in the 1987 NIT). The two-time first-team All-SWC performer and one-time USBWA All-District pick was a four-year letterman at Baylor from 1984-85 through 1987-88, and today stands as the sixth-leading scorer in school history with 1,677 points (he was No. 3 at the end of his Baylor career). He also ranks among Baylor's all-time leaders in FGM (4th, 641) and FGA (9th, 1132), FTM (4th, 395) and FTA (3rd, 600), REB (6th, 730) and double-doubles (t10th, 18).

Middleton's 666 points as a senior in 1987-88 stood as the Baylor single-season record until LaceDarius Dunn's 704-point campaign in 2009-10, while his career-high 38-point game against Rice in 1988 equals the sixth-best single-game total in school history.

The Queens, N.Y., native was selected in the third round of the 1988 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, and has enjoyed a successful professional basketball career in Spain since leaving Waco. Middleton is a three-time Spanish League MVP and helped FC Barcelona to a pair of Spanish titles in 1995 and 1996. He helped Panathinaikos to four Greek titles (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005), two Greek Cups (2003, 2005) and the 2001-02 Euroleague championship. Middleton, who is still playing pro ball in Spain, was a member of Akasvayu Girona's 2007 FIBA EuroCup championship team.

Middleton will become the 29th former Baylor basketball player or coach to be inducted into Baylor's Athletic Hall of Fame and will join former teammate Micheal Williams. Below is a complete list of Baylor basketball inductees:

More Preseason Honors Pour in for Dunn, Baylor
11:44 A.M., FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010

Thursday, we summarized Athlon Sports' rundown of the Baylor Bears in 2010-11, including first-team All-American LaceDarius Dunn, who also appeared on the cover. Lindy's Sports College Basketball 2010-2011 Preview is also available on newsstands in Central Texas. While there are no Bears on the cover (Oklahoma's Cade Davis, Oklahoma State's Marshall Moses, Texas' Jordan Hamilton, Texas A&M's Dash Harris), preseason honors continue to pour in for Baylor and Dunn.

Baylor, which is ranked No. 15 by Lindy's, is one of five Big 12 teams in the publication's preseason Top 40. Lindy's also had the Bears projected to finish second in the Big 12 in 2011 behind Kansas State.

Like Athlon, Dunn is a first-team All-Big 12 selection, while freshman teammate Perry Jones is a third-team pick by Lindy's. Dunn is also rated as the Big 12's 'Top Shooter', 'Top NBA Prospect' and 'Most Entertaining'.

LINDY'S OVERVIEW: SWEET 16
A year ago, Baylor was picked to finish near the bottom of the standings, but the team now finds itself picked as a championship contender. Drew knows it won't be easy to duplicate last season's success, and it has nothing to do with the athletic talent his team lost.

"Every coach knows team chemistry and leadership are two things you can't measure until you get into the heat of battle," Drew said. "I think our team is going to be talented and that's a tribute t othe returning players and the incoming players. But what really made last year special was the great leadership we got rom Ekpe Udoh, Tweety Carter and Josh Lomers. Hopefully, we can have some people step forward. If we do, it could be another exciting year for us."

Baylor senior guard LaceDarius Dunn is one of three Big 12 players from Texas on the cover of Athlon Sports' College Basketball 2010-11 Preview magazine, which hits the newsstands this week.

For hoops fans nationwide, the month of September unofficially ushers in the start of the college basketball season as college basketball preview magazines begin hitting the newsstands. Earlier this week, Athlon Sports' College Basketball 2010-11 Preview hit newsstands around Waco with a familiar face gracing the cover - Baylor senior guard LaceDarius Dunn (joined by Texas' Jordan Hamilton and Texas A&M's B.J. Holmes).

NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Baylor, which finished the 2009-10 season ranked No. 10 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, is ranked No. 10 in Athlon's Preseason Top 25. The Bears are one of three Big 12 teams in the top 10 - Kansas (No. 4) and Kansas State (No. 5). Missouri is ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll.

Dunn garned preseason first-team All-America honors from Athlon and is joined on the first team by BYU's Jimmer Fredette, Purdue's JaJuan Johnson, Duke's Kyle Singler and Georgia's Trey Thompkins. Dunn was one of only two Big 12 players named to one of Athlon's three teams; Kansas State's Jacob Pullen was named to the third team.

In addition to his first-team All-America accolades, Athlon tabbed the Monroe, La., native as the nation's No. 1 scorer. Baylor Nation should be very familiar with the rest of the names on Athlon's list, including Pullen, Nolan Smith (Duke), Alec Burks (Colorado), Cory Higgins (Colorado) and Malcolm Delaney (Virginia Tech).

ALL-BIG 12
After posting its best Big 12 finish, Baylor is projected to finish third in 2011 by Athlon. Dunn is Athlon's pick for Big 12 Player of the Year; Dunn and freshman sensation Perry Jones represent Baylor on the All-Big 12 first team. Junior Quincy Acy is a preseason third-team All-Big 12 selection.

ATHLON'S FINAL ANALYSIS: SWEET 16
It's hard to immage Baylor having a better season than it did in 2009-10, when it tied for second place in the Big 12 race before pushing eventual national champion Duke to the brink in the Elite Eight. Still, even with the loss of Ekpe Udoh abd Tweety Carter, the Bears have enough star power to beat any team in the country. The frontcourt of Quincy Acy, Anthony Jones and Perry Jones will be tough to stop, and LaceDarius Dunn is as good of a scoring guard as there is in the country. A lack of quality depth and the absence of a proven point guard are the biggest hurdles. If A.J. Walton steps up - or if Stargell Love matures quickly - the Bears will be a top-10 team all season.
