Thursday, October 25, 2008
Brad Sheffield

3:10 p.m.: Leading 20-17 at the half, Baylor gives up 15 second-half points and fails to score in the final 30 minutes as the Bears fall 32-20 to Nebraska.

Baylor will be back in action next week as it plays host to homecoming opponent Missouri. Kickoff is set for Saturday, 2 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.

3 p.m.: In what's been the story of the game, Nebraska converts on a 3rd and long to get inside the Baylor 10-yard line.

The Huskers are 11-of-16 on 3rd down conversions while Baylor is 0-9.

After a fumble recovery by Joe Pawelek, Jay Finley is tackled in the endzone for a safety.

After scoring 20 points in the first half, Baylor has yet to get on the board here in the second half.

2:35 p.m.: After a failed 4th down conversion, Nebraska promptly drove 65 yards in :42 seconds to stretch its lead with just over 12 minutes remaining the 4th.

The Huskers missed the PAT to keep its lead at 10.

2:15 p.m.: Nebraska takes over the lead with a 9-yard touchdown reception by Nate Swift.

After the touchback, Baylor begins with the ball at its own 20-yard line.

1:35 p.m.: After several third and long conversions, Trey Bryant stopped Joe Ganz short of a first down to force a 4th and 5 situation for Nebraska. The Huskers elected to try a 52-yard field goal to tie the game, but Jason Lambed blocked the attempt to keep the Bears ahead.

It was the first blocked field goal for Baylor since Texas A&M in 2006.

Baylor 20, Nebraska 17 - Halftime
Thursday, October 25, 2008
Brad Sheffield

1:35 p.m.: It's halftime here at Memorial Stadium with the Bears leading Nebraska 20-17.

The 20 points for Baylor are the most first-half points in a Big 12 road game by the Bears.

Also worth noting is that Nebraska legend and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers is roaming the halls of the Don Bryant Press Box. Rodgers became the first-ever Nebraska player to win the Heisman in 1972. He accounted for more than 2,000 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns during his senior season. Besides Rodgers, Mike Rozier and Eric Crouch have both won the Heisman during their years at Nebraska.

1:05 p.m.: After the Nebraska, Baylor executes a perfect 2-minute drive capped by a 1-yard TD run by Jacoby Jones.

On the drive, Robert Griffin established a new Baylor record with 162 passes without an interception. Griffin already set the NCAA record for most pass attempts by a QB to start a career.

Nebraska takes a knee give Baylor a 20-17 lead headed into the break.

1:05 p.m.: Baylor and Art Briles are trying some new things to show Nebraska different looks they haven't seen on film.

John David Weed has seen action in several plays as a tight end. Jacoby Jones just got in on his first action of the day and Joe Pawelek's first tackle didn't come until midway through the second quarter.

Nebraska just took the lead on a 18-yard Marlon Lucky run.

12:05 p.m.: Hurry, hurry, hurry. On 4th and 1, Robert Griffin hurried to the line and with Nebraska expecting him to sneak right up the middle, Griffin ran around the left corner and sprinted 47 yards to give Baylor a 14-7 lead.

Besides te run of 47 yards, Griffin also tallied a 40-yard jaunt on the drive.

11:45 a.m.: Both teams open up the game by forcing a punt. After one first down, Nebraska pinned Baylor inside its own 10-yard line.

Even before the Bears could get in its first play of the game, they were called illegal formation. Nebraska forced a three and out by the Bears. After a 50-yard punt by Derek Epperson, Nebraska takes over on the Bear's 39-yard line.

Baylor-Nebraska Pregame

11:20 a.m.: If red is your favorite color, then you'd be right at home here at Memorial Stadium.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that today's game here in Nebraska is going to be a sellout. Today will be the 295th consecutive sellout for Nebraska here at Memorial Stadium.

The sellout streak dates back to 1962 when Nebraska hosted Missouri. The Husker's are 255-39 during the 294 sellouts.

We're ten minutes away from kickoff and just found out that Dwain Crawford will not play today. Crawford hurt his ankle during last week's loss to Oklahoma State.

10:35 a.m.: You'll probably notice today as you're sitting around watching college football games, that many NCAA coaches are wearing arm bands. College coaches all around the NCAA will participate in the Coach to Cure Muscular Dystrophy program put on by the American Football Coaches Association.

Baylor's Art Briles and Nebraska's Bo Pelini will also participate during today's Baylor-Nebraska game. The program is designed to help fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Duchenne is the leading genetic killer of young men; Coach to Cure MD is a nationwide project designed to build awareness about the disorder and support researchers trying to find a treatment and cure.

10:05 a.m.: After a short drive down from Omaha, we are here in the Don Bryant Press Box at Nebraska Memorial Stadium.

I'll try my best to keep you as up to date with everything happening here in the press box and on the field, but I think the sun has other plans. The press box looks towards the east and isn't friendly on the eyes for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff.

We're less than an hour and a half away from kickoff and besides the sun, you couldn't ask for better weather for a football game. It's currently 43 degrees but should get up to the 50's by kickoff.

Baylor returns to action Saturday, Oct. 25, traveling to Lincoln, Neb., for a Big 12 Conference inter-division contest at Nebraska. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:35 a.m. CDT at Memorial Stadium on the Nebraska campus. Saturday's game will be televised nationally on the Versus Network, available in Waco on Grande Cable channel 23 and Time Warner Cable channel 125, and nationally on DirecTV channel 603 (604 HDTV) and Dish Network channel 151 (9468 HDTV).

The Bears (3-4, 1-2 Big 12) dropped a 34-6 decision at then-No. 8 Oklahoma State last Saturday. Baylor is 0-2 on the road this season; the Bears have lost six straight on the road overall and eight straight road games in Big 12 play.

The Huskers (4-3, 1-2 Big 12) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 35-7 victory at Iowa State last Saturday. Nebraska is 3-2 at home this season with wins over Western Michigan, San Jose State and New Mexico State and losses to Virginia Tech and Missouri.
