After top-five finishes to open the 2010 season, both the Baylor men's and women's golf team debuted in Golfstat's initial NCAA standings released Wednesday.
Fresh off the program's fifth NCAA Championship appearance, the men's golf team is ranked 22nd overall by Golfstat after a fifth-place finish at Golfweek's Conference Challenge. Baylor, one of four Big 12 teams in the Top 25, is one spot ahead of defending national champion Augusta State. Three Bears posted top-25 finishes at the Golfweek Challenge - Lorenzo Scotto (t6th), Joakim Mikkelsen (t15th) and Payne Gniewek (t17th).
The women's golf team is ranked No. 23 in Golfstat's initial NCAA Head-to-Head Standings - one of only three Big 12 teams ranked in the Top 25, joining Oklahoma (13) and Colorado (15). In their season-opening tournament in Colorado, the Lady Bears tied for fifth at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic. Junior Jaclyn Jansen secured her season career top-10 finish, tying for fifth place with a career-low 3-under 213.

Abilene native Bill Allcorn, the only four-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 performer in Baylor men's golf program history, claimed his first professional golf tournament victory last Saturday. Allcorn won by a four-stroke margin in the El Paso Desert Open on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series.
The 2009 Big 12 All-Tournament Team selection blisted the par-72 course, finishing the weekend at 20-under through 72 holes. Allcorn's best round came in the second round, carding an 8-under 64. Fellow Baylor alum Ryan Baca finished tied for 21st at even-par 288.
Baca ($38,763.67) and Allcorn ($36,685.41) are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Money List. Other Baylor alums in the top 100: Jeremy Alcorn (30th), Will Doughtie (34th) and Jason Hill (69th).
