700+ BAYLOR STUDENTS HEADED WEST FOR HOLIDAY BOWL
11:38 A.M., FRIDAY, DEC. 21, 2012

By The Baylor Proud Team - Check the blog out here.

When Baylor football takes the field at Qualcomm Stadium on Dec. 27 for the Holiday Bowl, they will be greeted by an impressive turnout of Baylor students.

More than 700 students -- about 5% of the student body -- purchased tickets through the university (in addition to those who bought tickets elsewhere) for a bowl game to be played some 1,400 miles from campus.

Almost 300 students -- six buses worth -- are taking advantage of a Baylor travel package in which they will board buses (like those pictured above) in Waco the morning of Dec. 26 for a 21-hour ride to San Diego.

They are scheduled to arrive in time for the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade on Dec. 27, in which some students will join the Golden Wave Band, the Spirit Squads, President Ken Starr and the Baylor Bear balloon. Word is that this will be the first university balloon in the parade's 22-year history. (FYI, the parade will be nationally televised on USA Network the following day, Dec. 28, at 8 a.m. ET/PT, so set your DVRs.)

After the parade, students will then attend the game that evening, spend the night in San Diego, and leave for Waco the next afternoon. Special thanks to lead donors Kirk and Carol Townsend and supporting donors Ken and Alice Starr and Ken and Celia Carlile for helping offset the costs of the trip to make it more affordable to our students.

Sic 'em, Bears!

ADDING UP ALL-BIG 12 HONORS
4:25 P.M., MONDAY, DEC. 10, 2012

The Waco Tribune-Herald, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star and Phil Steele all released all-conference football teams recently, and with the addition of Academic All-Big 12 and Academic All-America honors, it's a good time to do a rundown on the 33 different Baylor players who have picked up honors this season.

Baylor QB Nick Florence earned his first All-Big 12 first-team honor when the Waco Tribune-Herald listed him as its first-team Utility player. The Trib also named Cyril Richardson, Terrance Williams and Eddie Lackey to its first teams, and Ivory Wade, Lache Seastrunk and Bryce Hager picked up second-team honors. Additionally, Seastrunk was named the Trib's Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

All-Big 12 selections from the Dallas Morning News are behind a pay wall, but Richardson and Williams earned first-team honors, Lackey was named to the second team, and Seastrunk picked up another Offensive Newcomer of the Year award.

The Kansas City Star mixed it up by naming a single all-conference team that combined the Big 12 and SEC - Richardson and Williams were both selected to the Star's All-Big 12/SEC team.

Phil Steele's All-Big 12 selections included Williams and Richardson on the first team, Tevin Reese on the second team and Florence, Spencer Drango and Hager on the third team.

FLORENCE HONORED AT 55TH NFF ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER
12:00 P.M., WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5, 2012

Photo Gallery

Shortly after Baylor's 41-34 win over Oklahoma State to end the regular season, Baylor quarterback Nick Florence was on a plane and headed to New York City.

Back in late October, Florence was named one of 15 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy and received an $18,000 NFF post-graduate scholarship. Florence and the other finalists were honored Tuesday night at the 55th NFF Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, with Alabama's Barrett Jones being named the winner.

Florence joins Don Trull (1963) and Joe Pawelek (2009) as the only Bears to earn NFF post-graduate scholarships. The Campbell Trophy is in its 23rd year honoring college football's top scholar-athlete.

"It's truly an honor and privilege to be here," Florence said. "As Mr. Campbell said last night, this really is the most prestigious award in college football because it encompasses everything we do as student-athletes. We're students before athletes."

Candidates must be seniors or graduate students in their final years of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. The class is selected each year by the NFF Awards Committee, which is comprised of a nationally recognized group of media, College Football Hall of Famers and athletics administrators.

LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS: CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK?
3:40 P.M., WEDNESDAY, NOV. 28, 2012

Only one more week remains in the college football regular season and the 6-5 Baylor Bears will be bowling for the third consecutive season. Now, it's just a matter of when and where. There's still no consensus about where Baylor will be playing, but for now, majority rules: experts think Baylor will be headed to Houston (Meineke Car Care), New York (Pinstripe) or Dallas (Heart of Dallas).

Baylor Bear Foundation members and season ticketholders will be able to order tickets on-line at www.BaylorBears.com/tickets on Sunday evening after selections are announced, and all orders must be placed by Noon on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Remaining tickets, if any, in the Baylor allotment will go on-sale to the general public on Dec. 6. All tickets ordered through Baylor will be shipped by Dec. 14.

Fans are reminded that the stadium sections assigned to Baylor Athletics are made by the bowl, and all orders will be seated based on the Bear Foundation's Priority Points system. It is critical that Baylor fans purchase bowl game tickets from our athletics ticket office, as fans' institutional ticket purchases can impact our future bowl opportunities. Baylor Nation has been outstanding in its support of the Bears' at the 2010 Texas Bowl and the 2011 Valero Alamo Bowl, and the 2012 Bears are on track for another record-breaking year at the Floyd Casey Stadium box office.

Here's a look at the latest bowl projections:

THREE-HEADED MONSTER
Kansas is one of four schools in the NCAA that has had three different running backs eclipse the 100-yard rushing mark in a game this season. Jayhawk HB James Sims has four 100-yard games, HB Tony Pierson has two 100-yard games, while fellow HB Taylor Cox has one 100-yard rushing game to his credit this season. California, Tulsa and Middle Tennessee are the other three schools to have three running backs hit the century mark.

NEW FACES ON THE FIELD
Kansas has had 21 players see game action for the first time in a Jayhawk uniform in 2012. Nine offensive players, eight defensive players and four specialists have made their way on to Kivisto Field first time in their KU careers. In addition, seventeen Jayhawk players have picked up their first career start at KU in 2012.
