During its 2004 annual meeting, the “B” Association approved a new membership category that will offer members an opportunity to gain some unique benefits while providing greater financial assistance to the organization. The new category is the Bear 100 Club.

Unlike many letterwinners Associations in the country, which are funded the university’s athletic departments, the “B” Association relies solely on its membership dues and private contributions for funding. The Bear 100 Club offers members an additional level of involvement.

“It is imperative that we raise the necessary funds that will enable us to keep pace with the growth of our athletic programs in the Big-12 and provide quality support and recognition for our growing membership base. The Bear 100 Club will help us accomplish that,” said Walter Abercrombie, Executive Director of the “B” Association. “The funds would not only help address the association’s financial needs, it would give us a greater ability to control our own destiny as an association of letterwinners,” Abercrombie continued.

The Bear 100 Club will provide an exclusive membership to a limited number of Baylor letterwinners. Cost for joining the Bear 100 Club is $1000 annually. Each person who joins is asked to commit to a membership of no less than five years.

In addition to regular “B” Association benefits, all Bear 100 Club members will receive a bonus package of benefits that is only available through the club membership.

“Joining the Bear 100 Club enables the “B” Association to expand its programs to all letterwinners. For that reason, it is important that Baylor letterwinners join the “B” Association and it is equally important for many of those letterwinners, as well as current members, to join at the Bear 100 level. These funds enable us to honor our past athletes as well as spotlight our current athletes.” said David Lacy, “B” Association Board member and 2004 President.
