Prospective Student-Athlete Transcript Evaluation Procedures ("Quick Screen")

Incoming Freshmen
The Quick Screen process shall be initiated by a member of the coaching staff presenting to the compliance staff a copy of a prospective student-athlete's high school transcript(s) and ACT/SAT scores and requesting an evaluation. The compliance staff will review the documents with respect to NCAA initial eligibility standards (and shall also seek input from International Admissions for foreign prospects). The compliance staff shall then return the Quick Screen evaluation to the requesting coach and shall also forward the Quick Screen to Student-Athlete Academic Services. The Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services and the Director of the Office of Access & Learning Accommodations (OALA) shall review the Quick Screen and assess the prospective student-athlete's ability to be academically successful at the University. They shall rate the prospect's outlook on a scale of 1 to 3. A score of "1" indicates an acceptable academic record; "2" indicates a marginal academic record; and "3" indicates a questionable academic record. After the score is determined, the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services and the Director of OALA shall complete and sign the Quick Screen form in the monitoring section. They shall subsequently send a copy of the Quick Screen back to the compliance staff. If they assign a score of 2 or 3, they shall also forward a copy of the Quick Screen to the Athletics Director and Faculty Athletics Representative.

Transfers
The Quick Screen process shall be initiated by a member of the coaching staff presenting to the compliance staff a copy of a prospective student-athlete's two-year college or four-year college transcript(s) and requesting an evaluation. The compliance staff shall attach a Quick Screen form and forward all documents to the Transfer Admissions Office for review. Transfer Admissions reviews the documents and completes the Quick Screen form, then subsequently provides a copy to the Academic Review Committee (ARC) and also returns the completed Quick Screen to the compliance staff. Compliance gives a copy to the requesting coach. ARC shall review the Quick Screen and assess the prospect's ability to be academically successful at the University. They shall rate the prospect's outlook on a scale of 1 to 3. A score of "1" indicates an acceptable academic record; "2" indicates a marginal academic record; and "3" indicates a questionable academic record. After the score is determined, ARC shall complete and sign the Quick Screen form in the monitoring section. They shall subsequently send a copy of the Quick Screen back to the compliance staff. If they assign a score of 2 or 3, they shall also forward a copy of the Quick Screen to the Athletics Director and Faculty Athletics Representative.
