Declaration of Playing and Practice Season
Traditional and Non-Traditional Season Declaration
As mandated by NCAA rules, the head coach must annually declare their playing and practice season with the Compliance Office. The Playing and Practice Season Declaration must be completed each academic year prior to the first day of classes. If a team begins their preseason practice prior to the first day of classes, the form must be completed and submitted prior to the beginning of practice. In addition to completing the form, the head coach must also attach a copy of their schedule for the upcoming season. If a head coach wishes to change their declaration at some point during the academic year they must complete and submit a new declaration form to the compliance office and have it approved before enacting any changes to their playing and practice season.
The forms can be found on the Coaches Compliance Forms site previously provided.
Declaration of Football Spring Practice and Discretionary Weeks
Prior to January 1, the head football coach must declare in writing to the Compliance Office their spring practice dates and spring discretionary weeks. Prior to the end of the spring semester, the head football coach must declare in writing to the Compliance Office their summer conditioning period. The declaration of these spring and summer periods can be made via memo or email. If the head football coach wishes to change the declaration at some point during the respective period he must submit a new declaration to the compliance office and have it approved before enacting any changes to the respective period.
