WACO, Texas -
In an innovative move designed to bring Baylor's sports news more readily and immediately to Bears fans worldwide, the school announced Aug. 24 the discontinuation of its weekly television show "Inside Baylor Sports," and will move all Sic `em Sports Productions exclusive video content to BaylorBears.com, the BaylorAthletics YouTube channel as other digital outlets.
"We are thrilled to develop mobile web video programs that bring the passionate viewers and fans an inside look into Baylor Athletics while socially and emotionally connecting them closer to our athletic programs," said Director of Sic 'em Sports Productions and former BU track and field letterman Jay Hicks. "Our goal is to build a utility with an emphasis on user experience and allow fans to keep their finger on the pulse of their team in a meaningful way."
While "Inside Baylor Sports" was a weekly, 30-minute show on television, you will now see much shorter stories/features on a more frequent basis. The new mobile and digitally-focused Sic `em Sports Productions will give Baylor Nation an unprecedented inside look at the entire program.
The new and improved format debuted with a daily show, "Inside #CampBU," hosted by The Voice of the Bears, John Morris. The show gave fans a 1-2 minute look into Baylor football outside of the Xs and Os during the Bears' recently completed 19-day fall camp.
With fall camp concluded and the seasons starting up, Sic `em Sports Productions has introduced "#AskBears," a new show where the fans run the interview with their favorite Baylor student-athletes and coaches.
"We launched the new #AskBears show based on the groundswell of our fans' desire to connect and interact via social media and video," Hicks said.
Fans are encouraged to submit their questions via Twitter using the hashtag #AskBears, and the best ones will be answered by the featured coach or student-athlete on the show.
"Inside #CampBU" and "#AskBears" are just the beginning for the new-look Sic `em Sports Productions. Baylor Nation can look forward to many more shows going forward that will truly give the viewer an inside look at Baylor Athletics.
"Inside Baylor Sports has been a great vehicle to promote Baylor Athletics for the last 14 years, however, as more and more of our games are being shown on TV or digital platforms, we began to look for ways to re-purpose that show into more timely web-based programming that gives people an inside look at our athletics program," said Baylor Executive Associate A.D./External Affairs Nick Joos. "I am excited about the plans our Sic `em Sports team has for the new-look Inside Baylor Sports, and believe our fans will be pleased as well."
