Gameday Parking Impact on Campus

Aug. 27, 2014

A reminder for all of our faculty, staff and students that this weekend's opening of McLane Stadium will require some modifications in the parking routines for all of us.

This is an exciting weekend for the University as we open McLane Stadium. From the Traditions Rally on Thursday to Gameday on Sunday, we strongly encourage campus residents to enjoy the walk over the Umphrey Pedestrian Bridge to McLane Stadium.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 29, preparation for Baylor Gameday will include parking lot closures as well as accommodations for student parking and transportation elsewhere on campus.

Parking Lot Closures Beginning Friday, Aug. 29

The following lots will be reserved for credentialed Gameday parking and will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29. Any car remaining in a closed lot after the closure time is subject to citation and towing.

• Dutton Garage (Closing at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29)
• Speight Garage (Closing at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29)
• Robinson Tower (Closing at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29)
• Mayborn Museum Complex (Visitors lot will close at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30)

• Ferrell Center (Closing at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31)
• Highers Athletics Complex/Simpson Athletics and Academic Center (Closing at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31)

Faculty/Staff and Visitor parking in the East Campus Parking Garage and the interior of campus will be available to students after 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29. A free shuttle will operate every 10 minutes from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. from the East Campus Garage to key areas on campus (including Moody and North Village). On Gameday, parking in the East Campus Garage is open only to students with a valid student parking permit.

Campus Road Closures on Gameday

On Baylor Gameday, interior campus roads will close FOUR hours prior to kick off. If you are on campus earlier than this, you can park in one of the interior lots on a first-come, first-served basis and remain through the game.

On Baylor Gameday, University Parks Drive will close FOUR hours prior to kick off. University Parks will remain closed until pedestrians are safely out of the stadium area after the game.

Gameday street closures include:
• University Parks (Law School/Dutton Garage to Bagby Ave)
• 3rd Street (Dutton Ave to Bagby Ave)
• 4th Street (Dutton Ave to Speight Ave)
• 7th Street (MP Daniel to James Ave)
• Speight Ave (5th St to 8th St)
• Baylor Ave (7th St to 8th St)
• The northbound exit on I-35 for 4th-5th St. (Exit 335-A)
• The southbound exit on I-35 for Martin Luther King Blvd. (Exit 335-C)

Open Buildings on Gameday

Several buildings on campus which house retail dining services will be open on Gameday and available for campus guests, including the Bill Daniel Student Center, Baylor Sciences Building, Moody Library and East Village Commons. All other buildings will be closed to public access.

Shuttle Service and Additional Parking Accommodations

Shuttles will be running before, during and after the game: • The City of Waco will run shuttles from Fifth Street and Austin Avenue beginning TWO HOURS before kickoff and drop off guests on the corner of MLK and the I-35 West Access Road. City shuttles will run as long as needed after the conclusion of the game.) • Baylor will run shuttles from the BRIC (event staff and ADA parking), Ferrell and Speight garages. The Ferrell and Speight shuttles will begin THREE HOURS prior to kickoff and will drop off fans at the "I Believe Walkway" on University Parks Drive. Shuttle service will stop at the beginning of the 2nd quarter and resume at the start of the 4th quarter.

Bike parking will be available in an area near North Village. No bikes or motorized vehicles will be allowed on the Umphrey Pedestrian Bridge.

Fans who don't have pre-paid parking, who don't arrive more than four hours ahead to park in one of the limited number of spaces in interior campus lots, or who arrive after campus lots are filled, will be directed to other alternative parking locations, such as downtown or the Olive Heights Neighborhood. No single-game reserved parking passes will be sold.

Interactive Parking Website for Pre-Paid Parking

An interactive parking website - www.mclanestadiumparking.com - has been designed to guide fans to their pre-purchased parking location in the most time-efficient manner. This system takes into consideration I-35 construction, Gameday road closures and corridor capacity that are not available and/or used by other mapping websites or GPS systems.
