As a golfer for Thomas Jefferson high School in San Antonio, Texas, Johnny Arreaga won four district and three regional golf titles from 1953-56. Because of his outstanding high school performance, golf coach Odis Beck offered him a scholarship to continue his golf skills for Baylor. When he was a freshman and not eligible for the varsity, he helped push the varsity team of 1957 to the first-ever Baylor team golf championship. In earning varsity letters in 1958, '59 and '60, Mr. Arreaga was selected second-team All-American.

In his professional career, Mr. Arreaga used his golfing skills playing on the PGA Tour, and serving as an assistant pro, head pro and golf director at a number of outstanding golf courses and country clubs in the central Texas area. And from 1973-1976, he served as head coach for the Baylor golf team.
