Marcus Sedberry was named Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Success in May, 2017. Sedberry oversees the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence, which includes, academic services, student-athlete development, career development, leadership development, and social responsibility programming.
Prior to his time at Baylor, Sedberry served as the Assistant AD of Student-Athlete Development and Administration at the University of Arkansas, returning after two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles where he was the Director of Player Engagement, assisted with football operations and directed the Mental Conditioning Program.
While at Arkansas, he directed all student-athlete leadership and development programming, served as Sport Administrator for men's and women's track and cross country, and provided oversight of the Clinical and Sport Psychology department and the Sports Nutrition program. He also directed all departmental diversity and inclusion efforts and served as the drug testing administrator and primary Conduct Officer for student-athletes.
Sedberry began his career at Arkansas in 2012 as the Director of Student-Athlete Development. Before that, he created the Knights PRIDE Student Services program serving as the Director of Student Services at the University of Central Florida.
Sedberry is a co-founder of Hope for Stanley Foundation, founded to provide people in sports with volunteer opportunities in areas affected by natural disasters. He authored BE YOU! 10 Essential Qualities to Becoming an Exceptional You! and co-authored 100 Pioneers: African Americans Who Broke Color Barriers in Sports. Sedberry was selected to participate in the NCAA Leadership Institute, an NCAA Leadership Forum Facilitator and serves as an advisor to the NCAA Leadership Development Program.
A University of Nebraska graduate, Marcus won five Big 12 Track and Field Team Championships as a member of the Huskers' men's team. He received his MBA and Sports Business Management Masters from the DeVos Sports Business Management Program. Marcus is married to Dr. Tai Sedberry, and they have one son, Marcus Jr.
