John Williams Jr. joined Baylor as the school's Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning in May 2002. Williams, who had worked with more than 15 different sports at the collegiate level during previous stints at North Carolina and Oklahoma State, oversees Baylor's Department of Speed, Strength & Explosive Training.
A 1995 graduate of North Carolina A&T, Williams spent four of the last five years as an assistant strength coach at North Carolina. During his time in Chapel Hill, and in his one year at Oklahoma State, he worked with a number of different men's and women's sports.
While at UNC, Williams organized and conducted strength and speed camps and clinics for high school teams. He also was responsible for coordinating the Tar Heel's pro day, which gave NFL scouts a comprehensive look at UNC's draft-eligible student-athletes.
Williams, a native of Greenville, N.C., is married to the former Sherri Taylor of Kinston, N.C. They are the parents of a daughter, Christina.
