Atkinson, Obi Highlight First Day At Big 12 Championships

Bears qualify 14 individuals for Sunday finals competition.

Prior to Baylor - Abilene Christian: Competed for ACU as redshirt freshman in 2010-11, after sitting out as redshirt in 2009-10...Helped team to second-place finish at Lonestar Confernenc Outdoor Championship...Placed second at conference meet in heptathlon with 4,526 points...Also helped 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay score points at league championship with fourth and eighth-place finishes.

High School: Won TAPPS state title in cross country as senior in 2008 with 13:14 for two miles...Team MVP in track and field with TAPPS state titles in 400 (59.00) as sophomore and junior and in long jump as freshman...Also state qualifier in 100 and 200...Personal bests included 57.7 in 400, 17-9.5 in long jump and 12.2 in 100...Member of National Honor Society and earned TAPPS Academic All-State honors.
