Debbie Thornhill is in her first season as a volunteer coach after an outstanding career at Baylor.

Thornhill claimed back-to-back Big 12 championships in the 10,000 meters in 2002 and 2003. She also ran the second-fastest time in school history at 33:34.85 to automatically qualify for the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Thornhill also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5,000 meters after earning All-Big 12 honors in the event with a second-place finish.

She won the 5,000 meters at the 2002 Texas Relays and earned All-Big 12 honors indoors in the 5,000 meters.

During her Baylor cross country career, she was the Bears' first finisher in every meet and finished fourth at the 2002 Big 12 Cross Country Championships to earn All-Big 12 and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors. She also recorded an eighth-place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional narrowly missing a trip to the NCAA Championships.

Prior to Baylor, Thornhill ran cross country and track at North Texas, claiming the Sun Belt Conference distance triple crown in 2000-2001, winning the conference cross country title, the indoor 5,000-meter title and the outdoor 5,000-meter title. She won the Sun Belt cross country title three times.

Thornhill is a native of Wichita Falls, Texas.
