AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor senior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) qualified seventh for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best regional qualifying time of 51.45 Thursday at the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The finals in the event follow the women's final Saturday at 4:15 p.m.

Junior Lauren Tillman (Lawrenceville, Ga.) ran her first time ever under one minute in the 400-meter hurdles. She clocked 59.97 to finish 14th and lower her regional qualifying time. The time also moves her up to fourth on Baylor's all-time list behind Chava Demart, Danielle Myricks and Qing Qing Pan.

Sophomore Kim Brown (Waco, Texas/Midway) finished 20th in her first-ever collegiate heptathlon, scoring 4,237 points. Brown had a long jump of 5.37 meters (17-7 ½), a javelin throw of 25.36 meters (83-2) and ran a time of 2:46.71 in the 800 meters.

The men's 4x800-meter relay team of senior Wil Fitts (DeSoto, Texas) and juniors Kevin Mutai (Round Rock, Texas), John Robertson (Greensboro, N.C.) and Mitch Sanders (Katy, Texas) finished fourth with a time of 7:27.35. Sophomore Jacob Jones (Willis, Texas) finished 10th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:29.21.

Action will start to pick up for the Bears Friday as they will compete in eight events. The women's and men's 4x100-meter relays start the day off at 9:30 a.m., followed by senior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) in the 110-meter hurdles. Senior Chris Gillis (Pennsauken, N.J.) and freshman Queito Teasley (Katy, Texas), who will run on the 4x100-meter relay and play in Saturday's spring football game, will compete in the long jump at 12:30 p.m. and sophomore Brittany Devereaux (Denton, Texas) will throw the discus at 1 p.m. Senior Bo Price (Atlanta, Texas) will run in the 1,500 meters at 8 p.m., followed by the women's and men's sprint medley relays at 8:10 p.m.

 

 

The meet concludes Saturday with the Bears again competing in eight events.
