STANFORD, Calif. – Baylor’s track and field team competed in the distance events on Friday night in Stanford, Calif.
Senior Cate Westenhover paced the group with a big improvement on her career-best in the 5,000 meters, while sophomore Mariah Kelly posted a top-10 finish in her section of the 1,500 meters.
Westenhover, competing in Section 2 of the 5,000m, dropped more than 40 seconds off her previous outdoor best at the distance with a time of 16:13.84. She placed 13th overall in the section, nearly a minute ahead of teammate Rachel Johnson’s time of 17:10.34. Freshman Erin Hegarty turned in a solid 5,000-meter time as well, placing 13th in Section 4 at 16:54.10.
Kelly was the lone BU competitor in the 1,500 meters, placing ninth in her section with a time of 4:31.71.
On the men’s side, Robbie Knorr finished 26th in Section 4 of the 5,000 Meters with a time of 14:45.54 and Brad Miles had a solid 10,000-meters of 31:00.26 to place 42nd in Section 2.
Baylor will be back on the track next weekend, heading to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Invitational on Saturday, April 14.
