DES MOINES - Baylor's track and field teams combined for six top-four finishes on the final day of action at the 103rd running of the Drake Relays on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.

"There were lots of high and lows this weekend, but we came out of it relatively healthy," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We gained some good experience with some people running against the best teams in the nation. Now its just time to rest up and prepare for the battle of the Big 12 Conference meet."

Freshman Raena Rhone ran a stellar anchor leg to help lead the 4x400-meter relay team that included Michelle Nwachukwu, Idia Omogiate and Brittany OgunMokun to a third-place finish in a time of 3:37.55. Rhone took the baton well back in fifth place, but made up ground on the back stretch before passing two teams heading into the final straightaway.

On the men's side, the team of Justin Allen, Blake Heriot, Joe Barb and Zwede Hewitt got a fine carry from Hewitt on the anchor to move into fourth place and finish with a time of 3:06.41.

Baylor's 4x100-meter relay crew on the men's side raced the baton around the track in 39.97 with the team of Eric Bostick, Whitney Prevost, Everett Walker and Blake Heriot. The BU women's 4x100 relay team scratched out of the finals due to injury.

In the 400 hurdles, Baylor sophomore Gabriel El Hanbli had his best race of the year to win the second heat and place third overall with a time of 51.12. On the women's side, junior Christina Holland finished sixth in the same event with a time of 58.54.

Sophomore Erin Atkinson turned in a solid effort in the women's hammer throw, placing fourth overall with a toss of 196-8. The mark is the third-best of her career.

Baylor will have a weekend off before traveling to the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Manhattan, Kan., on May 11-13.
