BOULDER, Colo. -

The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams qualified 13 runners for Sunday's event finals on the second day of competition at the 2008 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Potts Field.

Trey Harts clocked the fastest qualifying time of the 200-meter preliminaries running 20.59 to earn the No. 1 seed in Sunday's event finals. Courtney Thomas ran a season-best time of 20.67 to earn the fifth-fastest time in the event and qualify for the finals.

Baylor earned the first- and third-fastest times in the men's 400-meter hurdles heading into Sunday's event finals. Robert Griffin ran a personal-best time of 49.73 to win his heat with the fastest time of the preliminaries. Griffin now ranks third in the nation in the event. Justin Boyd clocked 50.27 to win his heat and finish third overall in the preliminary rounds.

Tiffany Townsend ran 23.12 in the women's 200 meters to clock the third-fastest time of the preliminaries. Katrina Taylor recorded her first NCAA Regional qualifying time of the season in the women's 400 meters, clocking 54.30 for the sixth-fastest time of the preliminaries.

The men had three of the top eight runners in the men's 400 meters. LeJerald Betters cruised to a time of 45.79 to win his heat with the second-fastest time overall. Quentin Iglehart-Summers had the sixth-fastest time at 46.32, while Marcus Boyd finished second to Betters in the second heat with a personal-best time of 46.48 to earn the seventh-best time of the preliminaries.

Baylor qualified two runners in the women's 800 meters as Lauren Hagans recorded the third-fastest time of the preliminaries in 2:08.74, while Loren Hodges ran 2:10.26 to earn the eighth spot in Sunday's event finals.

Nichole Jones had the second-fastest time in the women's 1,500 meters at 4:34.00.
