DES MOINES, Iowa - Junior Skylar White earned All-America honors and the men's 4x100-meter relay made it through qualifying on the first day of action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Competing at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University, White led the way with her fourth-career All-America honor in the field events. On the track, the men's 4x100m relay was the only one of five entries to make it through the first day of qualifying.

In White's discus competition, the junior came out with a solid opening toss of 180 feet, 11 inches to place herself squarely in the top eight needed to score team points and earn All-America honors. She was unable to improve her mark over her final five throws, but hung to seventh place to score two points. It marks the second time she has earned All-America honors in the discus event, adding two indoor shot put honors as well. White will have one more chance at this meet to get on the awards stand, competing in the shot put on Friday at 5 p.m.

On the track, the Baylor men's 4x100m relay cruised around the track in its fastest time of the season of 39.15 to place second in its heat for an automatic qualifying spot. Overall, the team of Everett Walker, Whitney Prevost, Woodrow Randall and Blake Heriot had the sixth-fastest time of the day.

In the women's 400 hurdles, junior Christina Holland narrowly missed qualifying with a ninth-place overall finish. Needing to best a time of 57.32 to make the finals, Holland came in with a 57.52 to miss by one spot.

Walker, also competing in the 100 meters, was unable to qualify even though his second-fastest time of the season of 10.18. He was 11th overall with his time, and would have needed a time of 10.09 to crack the finals.

Also on the track in the 400 meters, seniors Zwede Hewitt and Diamond Richardson missed a qualifying spot. Hewitt was 22nd overall on the men's side with a time of 46.80, while Richardson was 20th overall at 53.33.

Baylor will be back in action for the second day at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bears will have Walker competing in the prelims of the 200 meters and both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays competing in the prelims.
