Jan. 14, 2003

WACO, Texas - The first Trackwire Dandy Dozen individual track and field rankings of the 2003 season were released today. Baylor sophomores Darold Williamson and April Holliness were among the athletes tabbed as the 12 best in their respective events.

Both returning All-Americans, Williamson is the only remaining member from the indoor 4x400 relay team that won the national title last season. He is ranked 5th in the 400 after finishing fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last season to earn All-America honors in that event. He ran on the outdoor 4x400 squad that took second at the NCAA's and is ranked third in the Dandy Dozen rankings.

Holliness had a stellar freshman campaign in which she earned All-America honors for finishing eighth in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She enters the season ranked eighth in the event.

The Dandy Dozen is a Trackwire ranking of the top 12 individuals in each event, which is used to figure the Trackwire 25 power rankings. For a complete list of rankings and for more information on how they are figured visit

Both Baylor Bear squads begin indoor action on Saturday at the Houston Indoor Invitational.
