- Baylor's track and field team will open the 2011 season at the Texas A&M Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 15, in College Station, Texas. Action will begin with the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and 60 meters at noon, with finals of all events starting at 2 p.m. at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The meet will feature three schools each from the Big 12, Southland, SWAC and Sun Belt conferences, and will be scored by conference. Baylor, Texas A&M and Oklahoma will represent the Big 12, while Northwestern State (La.) Stephen F. Austin and UTA comprise the Southland entries. Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas from the Sun Belt, and Prairie View A&M, Southern and Texas Southern from the SWAC round out the field.

Baylor returns 10 All-Americans to for the 2011 season, including all-time women's leader Tiffany Townsend, who has earned 13 All-America certificates in her illustrious career. On the track, the women also return two more All-Americans in junior Diamond Richardson and senior Brittany Bruce. Two All-Americans also return in the field events, including sophomore Skylar White and junior Jessica Ubanyionwu.

On the men's side, four All-Americans return, including sprinter Whitney Prevost, quartermilers Marcus Boyd and Zwede Hewitt, and half-miler James Gilreath.

The Baylor men also begin the season ranked 24th in the preseason United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll. The preseason rankings are based on the student-athletes each team has returning from the previous season. The Bears are one of eight Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25, including No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 18 Oklahoma, who will represent the Big 12 in the TAMU Challenge.

While the Baylor women begin the season unranked, they will join forces in this weekend's meet with No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 10 Oklahoma, as part of five ranked Big 12 women's teams.
