Baylor returns a total of 18 All-Big 12 performers to the 2013 Big 12 Indoor Championships hosted by Iowa State University at the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, Iowa, including two-time defending 60-meter hurdle champion Tiffani McReynolds.
Heading into the Big 12 Indoor Championships, the Bears have 32 individual marks among the top 10 in the conference, which is one more than entering last season's indoor conference meet. The list includes three league-leading marks.
Baylor's women own one, while the men have two league-best marks. For the women, McReynolds has the best 60-hurdle time in the Big 12 at 8.02. On the men's side, the 4x400-meter relay (3:09.89) and Everett Walker(200m) in 20.81 top the league.
Ten own multiple top-10 marks: Walker (60, 200), Blake Heriot (200, 400) Felix Obi (LJ , TJ), Richard Gary (400, 4x400), McReynolds (60, 200, 60H), Christina Holland (60H, 4x400), Mariah Kelly (1000, DMR), Olicia Williams (800, 4x400, DMR), Raena Rhone (400, 4x400, DMR) and Brianna Richardson(LJ, TJ).
Baylor has a total of six individual marks ranked among the nation's top 20 heading into the conference championship weekend. Of those marks, three are ranked in the top 10 among NCAA competitors.
As a team, Baylor has won 11 individual events this season, including 9 from the women's squad. McReynolds (60H) has won all three meets that she has entered, while establishing a new school-record.
Freshman Felix Obi is the only other Bear to set a school record this spring. The triple jumper has twice bested the mark of Thaddeus Gordon(51-2.75) and currently sits a 52-5.5 for second in the Big 12 and eighth in the NCAA rankings.
Baylor's female throwing duo of Skylar White (shot put) and Erin Atkinson(weight throw) have combined to win four titles this spring. Each is ranked second in the Big 12 in their respective event, as well as top 13 in the NCAA.
At last year's Big 12 Indoor Championship in College Station, Texas, Baylor collected one victory on the women's side on the way to a tie for fourth place, while the men finished fifth.
Head coach Todd Harbour signed a strong recruiting class on National Signing Day, including three men and eight women with nine of the 11 student-athletes specializing in the distance events.
