WACO, Texas - Baylor track and field will travel a total of 11 student-athletes (eight competitors, one injured & two alternates) to College Station, Texas, for the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium Friday and Saturday.

The Bears will have two entries on the men's side and five entries in women's events.

STORY LINES
• Baylor returns six athletes, who have competed in NCAA Indoor Championships, including two indoor All-Americans George Caddick (2016 4x4 relay) and Annie Rhodes (2015 pole vault).

• The women enter ranked No. 15 in the latest USTFCCCA poll, while the men are 73rd. The BU women have been as high as No. 7 in the country, which tied the highest ranking in program history.

• Caddick is back for the second-straight, after anchoring the men's 4x400-meter relay to a third-place finish in 2016. The senior will compete in his first individual event at the meet as he comes in seeded 12th in the 400 meters, after winning that event at the conference meet with a PR of 46.17.

• Rhodes is making her third-straight appearance in pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished eighth in 2015 and was tied for 10th last year. In 2017, the senior has won the Big 12 title, tied her own school record with a clearance of 14-5.25 [4.40m], which is ranked 5th in the country.

• Senior Cion Hicks is back for second-straight year in the shot put. Last season, she finished 10th at the NCAA meet, but she is coming off a Big 12 title in the event and has a season-best of 56-11.25 [17.35m], which is seventh-best in the NCAA.

• A year after making the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60 and 200 meters, Taylor Bennett is back in the 200-meters. She has the ninth-fastest mark in the field, after running 23.00 to win the Tyson Invitational.

• After winning the 200-meter dash at the Big 12 Indoor Championship in a personal-best time of 20.76, freshman Maxwell Willis heads into the NCAA meet seeded 13th in the field. He was award Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors for his performance at the conference indoor meet.

• The Baylor women's only first-time competitor is junior Leticia De Souza, who owns the nation's 12th-fastest 400-meters at 52.54. From Brazil, De Souza ran her country's 4x400-meter relay at this past summer's Rio Olympics.

• The women's 4x400-meter relay is returning to the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second-straight year, after winning the Big 12 title and earlier in the year the crew of Bennett, Kiana Hawn, Kiana Horton and De Souza set the school record in the event with a time of 3:32.09, which puts the Bears as the No. 9 time entering the meet.

• After originally having eight entries to the meet, Baylor was forced to scratch standout freshman Aaliyah Miller from the 800-meter event due to injury. Miller had a school record performance at the Iowa State Classic of 2:02.89 in the 800 meters. That time was fifth-best time in the NCAA.

• The BU men have scored points at the NCAA Indoor Championships every year since 1981, 36 straight years. The women have tallied points at the national indoor meet in five of the last six and in 11 of the last 13 years.

TOP QUOTE #1
"We're taking a good group down there this weekend on the ladies' side. But we lost a couple big opportunities to score with Aaliyah not being able to go this weekend in the 800; and our DMR just missed it. I still think our ladies have a great opportunity to be a top-20 team, hopefully top 15 if we can hit. Some of our ladies that are ranked pretty high right now -- Annie, Cion, Taylor, Leti and our 4x4, they're all going to have to have good days to do that. And they're very capable. And if they do that, I think we're going to be very happy and satisfied with our results."- head coach Todd Harbour on the women's team

TOP QUOTE #2
"On the men's side, we've got Maxwell in the 200 and George in the quarter. Both of those had outstanding conference meets, Big 12 champions. Both of them, I think, are bringing it at the right time." - Harbour on the men's squad
