WACO, Texas - The Baylor track and field team's outdoor season continues on Saturday as the Bears return to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
BU competed in the state's capitol two weeks ago at the 87th-annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The Bears are scheduled to have 13 men's athletes and 28 women's performers in action. Neither squad will run any relays at the event.
As a team, the Baylor men are ranked 11th. The contingent heading to Austin is highlighted by the season debut of All-American discus thrower Desmine Hilliard.
The BU women are currently ranked No. 17. Of the women's athletes in action, two are ranked inside the top 20 national rankings. Ashley Fields is 20th in the 200-meters with a time of 23.48 and Annie Rhodes is 13th in the pole vault at 13-7.25 [4.15m].
Along with the host Longhorns, Baylor will face competition from Houston, South Florida, Texas State, UT Arlington and USTA. Meanwhile, the women's programs from Rice and SMU and the men's program at Stephen F. Austin will also be in attendance.
Last week, the Bears were in Florida to take part in the Florida Relays.
Following the action in Austin, Baylor will host the Michael Johnson Classic at Hart-Patterson Track and Field Stadium on Saturday, April 19.
