IRVING, Texas - The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams placed 21 student athletes on the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 team the league announced on Tuesday. Of Baylor's 21 selections, 17 were first-team honorees.

Baylor had nine repeat selections, while senior Bo Price (Atlanta, Texas) earned his fourth-straight first-team honor.

The Big 12 Conference has named 275 student-athletes from the league's 12 member institutions. Among those honored, there were 22 nominated with a 4.00 grade point average -- 16 women and six on the men's side. Kansas and Oklahoma State had a league-leading six honorees each who posted a perfect GPA.

The Nebraska women placed the most student-athletes on the squad with 22 while MU paced the men's field with 19 selections.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the men's academic all-league track & field squad consisted of 93 first team members combined with 21 on the second team, while the women had 131 first team recipients and 30 student-athletes on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled on Friday-Sunday at Ed Weir Track in Lincoln, Neb.
