WACO, Texas - The Baylor track and field team opens the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships with 16 student-athletes competing in 11 events over the course of the four-day event, Wednesday through Saturday, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

"We are excited about the prospects for this week," head coach Todd Harbour said. "I think we are taking a hungry group of student-athletes. We have a good mix of veterans and some freshmen that are excited to get their first shot on the national stage."

  • Baylor will have 11 entries made up of 16 student-athletes in the field at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. The women will have seven entries with five on the track and two in the field, while the men have four total (3 track, 1 field).

  • As a team, Baylor has won a total of 49 individual events during the outdoor season. The BU women have claimed 27 with 11 coming from Atkinson and White in the throws, while the men have won 22.

  • Atkinson has broken her own school record in the hammer throw four times this season. She has five wins in the event with the current school record coming at the Texas Invitational on April 13.

  • Besides owning the school record in the discus, Hilliard is slated to be the Baylor football team's starting right guard when the Bears open the 2013 season.

  • Baylor's women placed third and the men were seventh at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Waco. Holland tallied BU's lone title in the 400 hurdles with a school-record time of 56.81.
