WACO, Texas - The Baylor track and field team is slated to have four athletes in action at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships, which start Saturday and continue on Sunday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

All four participants are coming off their freshman collegiate seasons. Trayvon Bromell will run the 100-meter dash, while TJ Holmes will take part in the 400-meter hurdles event. On the women's side Maggie Montoya is schedule to run in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races and Annie Rhodes will be in the pole vault field.

The meet features the future of USA Track & Field as the best athletes under the age of 20, including high school standouts and the nation's most promising college freshmen, look to qualify for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene from July 22-27.

Bromell enters the competition with the fastest qualifying time in the nation. The freshman sprinter recorded a World Junior record time of 9.97 to win the NCAA 100-meter title on June 14. He will run in the first round of the event at 3:35 p.m. (5:35 p.m. CT) on Saturday with hopes of qualifying for the running of the finals at 6:40 p.m. (8:40 p.m. CT).

Holmes enters the event with the fastest 400-meter qualifying time at 49.98. That mark was established as Holmes placed second at the Big 12 Championships in May. He ended his collegiate season by placing fourth in the event at last month's NCAA Championships in 50.07. Holmes will run in the first round on Saturday at 2:50 p.m. (4:50 p.m. CT) looking to qualify in the finals at 5 p.m. (7 p.m. CT) on Sunday.

Maggie Montoya is the lone Bears scheduled to race in two events. She opens with the 3,000 meters at 7:22 p.m. (9:22 p.m. CT) on Saturday and will follow that up with the 5,000 meters on Sunday at 6:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. CT).

Annie Rhodes will be the final BU competitor to get in on the action. She will compete in the pole vault at 3:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m.) on Sunday. Rhodes' school record jump of 14-0 [4.27m] achieved at the Texas Invitational gives her the second-best jump heading into the competition.
