BOSTON, Mass. -- Two weeks after her All-America finish at the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships, sophomore Anna West posted the fifth-fastest 5,000-meter time in program history at the Boston University Season Opener Saturday in Boston, Mass.
The sophomore ran a time of 16:09.81 which was 14th best at the meet. The third-fastest runner in the event, West will go down in the record books behind Rachel Johnson in 2015 (15:40.35) and Karin Ernstrom in 1999 (16:03.76).
The Boston University Season Opener served as one of several indoor meets to help student-athletes qualify for the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held March 10 in College Station, Texas.
Baylor opens the indoor track & field season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, running Jan. 12-13 in Lubbock, Texas.
