STILLWATER, Okla. -
The Baylor women's cross country team took their
third straight meet title by winning the 1999
Cowboy Jamboree, hosted Saturday by Oklahoma State
University.
The women won by placing three runners in the top
10 and five in the top 20. Baylor won by 29
points over runner-up Adams State.
Senior Karin Ernstrom placed second, 14 seconds
behind the winner, Texas Tech's Leigh Daniel.
Ernstrom was running in her first race of the
year, having set out the Rice Relays and Baylor
Invitational with foot problems.
Sarah Broyles, a freshman, took third place for
the second week in a row. Senior Cecilia
Jeverstam finished eighth, three seconds ahead of
sophomore Kara Newton in 11th place. Erin Dixon,
a freshman, rounded out Baylor's scoring five in
16th place.
Freshmen Stephanie Bennett and Leah Marbach
finished 24th and 39th, respectively.
The Baylor men's team came in sixth out of 14
schools. No. 1 ranked Arkansas won the team
title, while Razorback runner Michael Power took
top individual honors.
The Baylor men were led by senior Brandon Buhr,
who finished 18th. Ferenc Beskesi, a freshman
coming off a first place title at last week's
Baylor Invitational, placed 21st.
Sophomore Jon Capron came in 44th, followed by
sophomore Aaron Ward in 49th, freshman Alex Adler
in 51st, sophomore Corey Dunigan in 66th, and
senior Brett Lamb in 82nd.
The Bears are in action again on October 9 at Penn
State.
