DENTON, Texas - The Baylor men's cross country team finished second, while the BU women took third at the North Texas Invitational on Saturday.
The Bears were led by senior Brad Miles, who won the men's four-mile race in a time of 20:16.64.
Behind Miles were Derwin Graham (20:49.15), JR Hardy (20:56.71), Kyle Scanlan (20:58.01) and Matt Cochran (21:00.80), who finished in places 7-10, respectively, for a total team score of 35. That however wasn't enough to claim the team title as North Texas runners claimed spots 2-6 to take the crown with only 20 total points.
The women were led by Sarah Guhl, who was ninth overall in a time of 18:49.33, in the 5K race. Baylor's other scoring runners included Erika Overbeck (11th, 18:52.48), Lindsey Smith (13th, 19:06.39), Lauren Hierholzer (14th, 19:19.60) and Christina Brown (20th, 19:46.71).
As team the Lady Bears tallied 66 total points to finish 25 points behind second-place North Texas.
Miles won his second career meet, after capturing the individual title at the UTA Season Opener in 2011.
Baylor had a total of 16 girls competing in the meet, while the men only had seven runners.
There were three men's teams (Baylor, North Texas, and TCU) and five women's teams (Baylor, North Texas, SMU, Southeastern Oklahoma State and TCU) at the meet.
In total, there were 36 men and 53 women competing at the event.
Kyle Scanlan has been a scoring runner in all seven of his collegiate races.
