HOUSTON – With four runners in the top nine, the Baylor women’s cross country team won the HBU Invitational on Friday at the St. Agnes Athletics Fields.
On a 5K-course, Erika Overbeck was the first BU runner to finish as she took fifth in a time of 8:13.0. Lindsey Smith was only two seconds behind to take sixth-place in 18:15.0. Lauren Hierholzer was seventh overall and the third Baylor runner to finish in a time of 18:32.0.
In her first meet since the Bear Twilight Invitational, Sofia Pitouli placed ninth by running the distance in 18:34.0. The final BU scoring runner was Kristina Brown, who was 20th in a time of 19:13.0
Those five runners tallied a team score of 31, which was 24 points ahead of second-place Texas A&M..
• Baylor had a total of 14 girls competing in the meet.
•Overall there were 67 girls, who finished the race, from seven different teams.
•Former Baylor athlete Cate Westenhover took second place at the meet. She ran unattached and turned in a time of 17:33.0.
•The race included five unattached runners.

The Baylor men and women return to competition on Oct. 19 at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
