TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Erin Bedell led the way for Baylor's women's cross country team with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Baylor's men finished 13th and the split-squad of the women finished 10th at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
Bedell was the top finisher for the Baylor women, who were hampered by illness. Bedell finished the six-kilometer race in 20 minutes, 59.9 seconds. Nichole Jones was next across the line for BU in 42nd at 21:31.1. Danielle Bradley placed 111th with a time of 22:17.
"Erin ran really well," head coach Todd Harbour said. "She had a really nice race. We had a couple that came down with the stomach flu, we just didn't have a very good day at all. It was about a tough of a day we have had a pre-nationals. But we will regroup and be back to battle at the Big 12 meet in a couple weeks."
At the Chile Pepper Festival, juniors Robbie Knorr and Jeff Sadler led the way for the Baylor women finishing in 36th and 49th place, respectively. Brandon Reed placed 87th, while Zac Flowers and Brandon White were 99th and 100th.
On the women's side, Kristen Hanselka and Katie Barry helped BU to a 10th-place team finish placing 44th and 48th. Samantha Patty was 80th and Allison Woerner was 82nd.
Baylor will have one week off before doing battle at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Columbia, Mo., in two weeks.
