WACO, Texas - Baylor cross country head coach Todd Harbour announced the release of his team's 2017 schedule Tuesday.
"This schedule gives us a chance to compete against a high level of competition and is preparing us for the Big 12 Championship and the NCAAs," Harbour said. "We are hoping to have two outstanding seasons on both sides again, and this schedule allows us to do just that."
For the 15th-straight year, the Bears will open the season at home with the Bear Twilight Invitational on Friday, Sept. 1 at the HOT Soccer Complex. After a weekend off, Baylor will head to the Ken Garland Invitational on Sept. 16, in Denton, Texas, hosted by North Texas.
Next, the women's squad will run at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 23 in College Station, Texas. Both teams will then head north on Friday, Sept. 29 to participate in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
One week later, the women head back to College Station to run in the Aggieland Open on Friday, Oct. 6.
The men and women will run in different locations on the same weekend for the only time in 2017 on Oct. 13 and 14 with the Lady Bears at the Adidas Invite in Madison, Wisc., on that Friday and the Bears at the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, Ky., the following day.
BU will have another open weekend, before taking a quick trip south to face the league at the Big 12 Championship Oct. 28 in Round Rock, Texas.
In postseason action, Baylor will then travel to College Station for the NCAA South Central Region Championships on Nov. 10. It will be only the fifth time in the last 10 years and the sixth time in the last 15 seasons that the Bears will not host the event.
The NCAA Championships take place Nov.18 in Louisville, Ky.
