Cross Country Women Roll South To Texas A&M Invitational

WACO, Texas -- The Baylor women's cross country team will be back in action at the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.

The women's 6,000-meter race will start at 9 a.m. Besides Baylor, the field also includes Central Arkansas, Houston, Houston Baptist, Kentucky, Lamar, Lipscomb, LSU, McNeese State, Midwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, Texas Wesleyan and UTSA.

In the women's South Central regional rankings, Baylor is currently fourth, while Rice is third and Texas A&M sixth, Houston eighth, Lamar 10th and Central Arkansas 11th. Kentucky ranks seventh in the Southeast region while Lipscomb is seventh in the South region.

For the BU women, 20 student-athletes will be in action, including Alison Andrews-Paul, Emily Curran, Alex Davis, Amanda Dillon, Haley Everroad, Kathryn Foreman, Micaela Freeman, Sydney Gandy, Kasey Kinzel, Isabella Lackner, Hana Marsheck, Maggie Montoya, Katy Parsons, Jessica Purtell, Leila Rohde, Megan Rule, Gabby Satterlee, Peyton Thomas, Lindsay Walton and Anna West.

Last weekend a smaller BU group finished fourth at the Ken Garland Invitational. Several of the Bears' top runners did not compete at that meet, including Davis, Foreman, Montoya, Thomas and West.

The men's team is off this weekend, after winning the Ken Garland Invitational Saturday in Denton, Texas.

Baylor last competed at the meet in 2014 with the women's squad finishing second. Individually, Maggie Montoya was fourth and Alex Davis was fifth in the race.

Following the meet at Texas A&M, the men's and women's teams will both compete at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 30.
