WACO, Texas - For the first time since the season-opening Bear Twilight Invitational, the Baylor men's and women's cross country teams will both be in action on Saturday at the North Texas Invitational in Denton, Texas.

The race is scheduled to be run at the Eagle Point Cross Country Course and will open with the women's team running a 5K course at 10:30 a.m. The men's 4.07-mile run will follow the conclusion of the women's race at 11 a.m.

"We have a good group going to the North Texas Invitational," head coach Todd Harbour said. "Our men are taking their frontline group and even though our top ladies won't be running, it is still a good group. This is another opportunity for our ladies to race here in state as we try to determine who will be in our travel group for next week's meet at Notre Dame."

The men will compete against runners from UT Arlington, North Texas, Southeastern Oklahoma State and TCU, while the women will face North Texas, SMU, Southeastern Oklahoma State and TCU.

For the BU women, 17 student-athletes will be in action, including Kristina Brown, Courtney Cox, Sarah Guhl, Jenna Henrich, Lauren Hierholzer, Meredith Jackson, Annie Jaska, Erika Overbeck, Jessica Purtell, Lexi Reamer, Gretta Smith, Lindsey Smith, Lauren Stevens, Angela Tharpe, Kimberly Walbek, Mary Woodall and Catherine Zabilski. Many of those runners helped BU claim a third-place finish at the UTA Season Opener on Oct. 14.

The men's team has not competed since taking third at the season-opening Bear Twilight Invitational on Aug. 30. The Bears are slated to have eight runners competing on Saturday, including Matt Cochran, Derwin Graham, JR Hardy, Chris McElroy, Brad Miles, Kyle Scanlan, Jonathan Tijerina and Jordan West.

"We have taken some time to buckle down and train," assistant coach Jon Capron said. "We will see what it has gotten us. I think it is going to be good things. We have been working on getting out faster and we will try to be a little more aggressive out of the box with a shorter race this weekend."

At the Bear Twilight Meet, BU was led by senior Miles, who was 10th overall.  Sophomores Scanlan and Hardy were 12th and 13th, respectively.

Following the meet at North Texas, the men and women will split for competition on Oct. 4-5. The women's team will travel to the Notre Dame Invitational at 4 p.m. on Oct. 4, while the men will run at the Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 5.
