Maryland, Fairmont State Win NCSTA

KENNESAW, Ga. - The University of Maryland and Fairmont State University emerged victorious in the first-ever National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association collegiate meet.

The meet used the NCSTA's newly designed meet format and scoring system, which has individual skill rounds before the traditional team routine.

Maryland scored a 243.66 out of a possible 266 to take first place in Division I. Oregon (234.44) placed second, Quinnipiac (213.93) took third and Georgia (177.35) was fourth.

Maryland won the stunts, baskets, tumbling and team routine rounds and Oregon took the first in the pyramid round.

In Division II, Fairmont won with 229.15 points and Fort Valley State was second with 163.59. Fairmont claimed the title in each of the five rounds.
