WACO, Texas -
Baylor competitive cheer has added a competition against Azusa Pacific to its 2010-11 schedule. The Bears will travel to Azusa, Calif. to compete in a head-to-head meet against the Cougars at 2 p.m. CST on March 5.
The newly scheduled meet takes the place of the Feb. 5 Azusa Pacific Invitational, a tournament the Bears were unable to travel to because of the winter storm that hit Central Texas last week.
The timing also allows the Bears to compete in two meets on the same trip, as Baylor already had a meet scheduled at Oregon on March 7. It will be the second time this season Baylor has competed twice on one road trip. The Bears won at Fairmont State in their first-ever meet on Dec. 3, then traveled to Maryland and lost by three points two days later.
Despite Baylor's inability to travel to the Azusa Pacific Invitational, the tournament went on as scheduled with the Cougars taking on Fairmont State and Quinnipiac. Azusa Pacific won the meet with 274.86 overall points, followed by Fairmont State with 273.52 and Quinnipiac with 265.14.
The Bears' (1-2) next competition is their first-ever multiple team meet and their final home meet of the season. Baylor welcomes Azusa Pacific and top-ranked Maryland to the Ferrell Center at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24.
