Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On the game:
"This was a well played game. The weather was great but that wasn't the best part of it. You saw today some really good play and some really good arms on the mound. We punched them out nine times but we could have had a few more. We had a few two strike counts that I think Logan (Verrett) would have liked to have had back. This was a well played game."

On the bottom of the sixth inning:
"We had them on the ropes and we had a chance. (John Stilson) was exceptional. You have to give him credit. He walked us a couple of times but made some big pitches to get out of it. He was throwing in the upper 90s and I don't know that I have seen anyone hit 99mph out there on our radar board before. That was impressive."

On the performance of Logan Verrett:
"He only walked two batters. He left some sliders with two strikes over the plate a little bit, particulary the third time that they went through the order. I thought he threw pretty well. I thought he pitched better than he did the other day. I thought particulary in the last inning for him to go back out there - he was at the 100 pitch mark this early in the year and really went out there and had a pretty easy seventh inning. I think that was particulary an important thing because we did score a couple of runs (in the sixth inning). It was good to see him go out there and do that."

Senior 3B Raynor Campbell

On stranding the bases loaded in the sixth inning:
"I wouldn't say it was a missed oppurtunity because we got a couple of runs on the board and there were plenty of innings after that to put other runs on the board. I think it was a good job because you can't think about going out there and scoring four runs in an inning, that is just not baseball. I was very pleased with the two run inning because we had a little bit of momentum going into the next inning and the rest of the game."

On the A&M pitching staff:
"Both those guys (Ross Stripling and John Stilson) are real good and there is no question. (Stilson) came out of the pen and had four pitches that were plus pitches. On top of that, he was consitent at 95 mph. He was tought to hit. There arms did really good today. I gave ourselves credit for battling in the last four innings."

Freshman LF Logan Vick

On building on the loss:
"We are playing them later this year and we are just going to take today's loss and let it fuel us and put a fire underneath us for the series (in April). It is a sick feeling to lose so it just makes us want to work that much harder to come out and win."
