Head Coach Steve Smith
On Logan Verrett:
"He was very good. I thought he had really good command of four pitches and had good velocity. I don't know how you could have been any better than he was tonight. He ended the game very strong and his pitch count was great. On a night when we were less than good offensively he had to be very good tonight ."
On Baylor's offense:
"We got some things to fall, but early in the game we were leaving runners at third base with no outs. We had a number of times that we would try to bunt into an early break. I thought one of plays of the game was Miller not trying to bunt, but actually swinging at the ball. Hopefully those things are things we don't do again."
On the progress of the team and being on a four-game win streak:
"Well it is a little different every night. One thing that we have talked about is being consistent and we have worked on being as consistent as we can be and not letting a loss be what wakes you up. We just have to focus on staying grounded and come to play every day. We will lose enough games to keep us honest, but we have to learn how to handle success and learn how to win consecutive games."
Junior RHP Logan Verrett
On his performance:
"This was probably the most comfortable I have felt out of any of the games I have played at Baylor. I had all four pitches working and I was able to throw strikes with all four and that helped me keep the opposing hitters off balance. That was probably why I was able to go nine innings."
On being able to pitch to contact:
"I felt strong all the way through the game. The innings where I was pitching to contact were the innings where we were down in their order and I was just attacking with fastballs. A lot of times you want to challenge hitters with fastballs and see if they can hit it. Some of them were able to make contact, but they ended up being right at somebody or being a little dribbler."
Junior Catcher Josh Ludy
On Logan Verrett:
"He looked great tonight. Anytime he takes the mound we have all the confidence in the world in him and tonight he went out there and flat out dominated. I could not put down the wrong pitch for him tonight."
On the way the team is progressing:
"I feel like we are definitely progressing a lot. We are showing a lot of consistency lately, but we still have a ways to go. There is always something to get better at, but I feel like we are progressing pretty well towards where we want to be."
