Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On playing strange series' with Texas Tech:
"I can't remember a lot of them quite like this one. I thought yesterday, with the way that game finished, it felt a whole lot like Lubbock. I thought this series was played very well. I thought both teams played well. I thought they played hard. There really was not a lot of throwing the ball around. A lot of nice plays defensively and a lot of offense. I think (Texas Tech) had a great, great weekend offensively. I give them credit for that. We didn't pitch as well as we are capable of pitching, but you rarely ever do. I think that they were just exceptional at the plate and we weren't too far behind them. I thought we had a pretty good weekend as well."

On the performance of Trent Blank:
"He just persevered. He got some plays made behind him. He got out of a pretty significant jam there when we won the appeal on the tag-up on third base. I thought he gutted through it. He was really effective against a really hot offensive team. He gave his team a good chance to win and left with the lead."

On Texas Tech's offense:
"(Texas Tech) did a great job with two strikes. They did an exceptional job. I would clearly say that's the best offensive team we've seen up and down the lineup with two strikes. Most teams will have a guy or two but that team was really good up and down the lineup. I think (Barrett Barnes) is a big leaguer. I think he's going to be a force. Personally, I hope he is draft eligible. He is a tremendous player, but they've got other guys around them as well."

Junior RHP Trent Blank

On his performance:
"(Texas Tech) is a good hitting team. I just tried to limit the runs and let the defense work behind me."

On what was working for him:
"I located on the inside corner well. I didn't hit the outside part of the plate very well. But I went to the changeup that I used to throw whenever I was younger and it worked out."

On bouncing back from two tough losses:
"We are going to take it one game at a time, no matter what. That's our philosophy. We're going to flush this and work hard tomorrow."
