Head Coach Steve Smith
On the game-tying homerun:
"Well the most important run was (Brooks) Pinckard's homerun that tied the game up knowing that the weather was coming. We could have just as easily lost this game in a rain shortened game as won it. When he hit the homerun, that was a pretty big run to get right there."
On the play of Logan Vick:
"He is playing really well both offensively and defensively. He has turned into a real competitive leadoff hitter and it is a lot of fun to watch him play. He is playing left field well and making some pretty athletic plays out there. Anytime you see a hitter go out of the park the other way, which he has done it two or three times, it is pretty impressive."
On the pitching:
"It is really amazing to have the opportunity to throw that many guys and to see them all, with a couple of exceptions, get out of it okay. I don't know that any one of the guys that we threw tonight could have given us seven innings and only held them to three runs. Collectively as a group, that is what they did."
Senior RHP Willie Kempf
On the pitching staff:
"It is always good when you get guys out there that haven't thrown in a while, especially going into a big conference series this weekend. We got a lot of guys out there on the mound and got some confidence in them. A lot of guys had good outings today and hopefully that will carry over to this weekend."
On the importance of getting the win:
"That rain was right there and we knew the game wasn't going to go nine innings so we were really trying to get a lead at some point. We pushed a couple (of runs) across and got the lead and we were able to hold it for a couple of innings before the rain came."
Freshman Logan Vick
On his hitting streak:
"I have really just been able to see the ball really well. I have been picking the ball up early out of the pitchers hand. I have been looking for fastballs and I have been getting fastballs early in the count."
On his confidence at the plate:
"Going into a conference series going 2-for-4 tonight really builds my confidence and gives me more confidence when I go against other pitchers. Going against lefty-on-lefty, in the past I haven't been too worried about it, tonight to continue my hitting streak against a lefty really boosted my confidence level."
