HOUSTON - Josh Ludy had four hits and four RBI to lead eight Baylor starters who each had at least one hit, one run and one RBI in a 14-5 win over Houston at Cougar Field on Tuesday night. The win gave Baylor its first regular-season eight-game winning streak since 2003.

Baylor (19-7) has scored at least eight runs in six consecutive games, which marks the first time the Bears have done so since an eight-game streak of eight-plus runs scored in 1998.

Joey Hainsfurther and Tyler Bremer combined to hold Houston (10-13) without an earned run over 7.0 innings. Bremer (2-0) earned the win with 3.0 shutout innings of relief in his first outing since an injury on Feb. 22.

"When you have two seniors in Joey and Bremer who are able to throw seven innings for you on a Tuesday on the road, that's significant," head coach Steve Smith said. "It was just a gritty effort by Joey. It wasn't as crisp and easy for him as it was last week, but he still got through it and he competed really well and made a lot of big pitches."

Baylor hadn't trailed in its last five games, but the Bears fell behind 2-0 after Houston took advantage of an error to score a pair of unearned runs in the second.

Baylor quickly answered with a run in its next trip to the plate when Michael Howard singled, Jake Miller doubled and Lawton Langford brought Howard home with a RBI groundout to cut the Cougars' lead to 2-1.

Hainsfurther struck out the last two batters in a scoreless third, and the Bears carried that momentum over to their at-bat in the top of the fourth when they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Ludy and Miller had RBI singles in the inning.

Ludy finished 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base, while Miller went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI in a return to his hometown. Nathan Orf, Max Muncy and Logan Vick added two RBI each for Baylor.

Hainsfurther allowed another unearned run in the fourth, but the Bears went right back to work with the bats in the fifth. Ludy and Dan Evatt combined on Baylor's first back-to-back home runs since 2009, giving the Bears an 8-3 lead.

Bremer came out of the bullpen to start the fifth inning after missing 20 consecutive games. He walked the first batter and gave up a double to put two runners in scoring position with no outs, but he bounced back to strike out the next three batters on just 12 pitches to escape unscathed.

"That was really a big momentum shift right there, and the game was still a game for quite a while," Smith said.

Baylor added four more runs in the eighth when Vick hit his Big 12-leading 13th double to drive in two runs and Ludy followed with a two-run single. The Cougars got two runs in the bottom half of the eighth, but Crayton Bare came out of the bullpen to strand a pair of runners. Sean Spicer closed out the win by retiring the final two batters in order in his collegiate debut.

Kendall Stacks went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk to lead a group of four Houston hitters who had two hits each.

Baylor puts its eight-game winning streak on the line when it hosts Oklahoma State for a three-game series at Baylor Ballpark this weekend. The Bears' seven-game winning streak in Big 12 games ties the fourth-longest in program history. The OSU series is Baylor's annual Military Appreciation Weekend, and first pitch in Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
