BU Head Coach Steve Smith
"You know this isn't football. You draw [plays] up in football; in baseball you can't draw them up. We got some timely hits, a couple big ones out of Grayson [Porter]. We had great relief work out of [Josh] Michalec. But even going back to [Doug] Ashby and Ryan [Smith], they kept us right there and gave our guys a chance to get going and have those big hits."
On Kansas State:
"I think that's as good a Kansas State team as I've seen. It's one of the better teams we've seen this year. They've always been pretty tenacious offensively but I really like them on the mound."
On Michalec's performance:
"He made some huge pitches. He's usually been good with his fastball and slider, but he pulled some change-ups out of the hat tonight that were huge pitches at the time."
On playing extra-inning games:
"It is a tough thing to do to win an extra-inning game on the road. Because, every time you go to the field, you know you have to get six more outs. That was huge for us to force them to continue to have to do that."
BU Reliever Josh Michalec
On being a confident pitcher:
"That's what we preach: get on the mound and be big, act big. I feel like it pays off if you do that."
On pitching solely from the stretch:
"Focusing on one thing helps cut down on errors that you might be doing in another position, particularly in the wind-up. Focusing solely on the stretch I'm getting to balance, I'm staying back, staying closed, all the good things I need to be doing mechanically to throw strikes."
On pitching in extra-innings:
"I relish every opportunity I have to pitch and if they don't get it done, it's another inning. We're still going to fight, we aren't going to give in and that's the way we need to play."
BU Second Baseman Lawton Langford
On his batting:
"I felt pretty good tonight, got some good pitches to hit over the plate and fortunately I was able to get the barrel to it. Throughout the season early on, I was just pulling off the ball but finally I'm working the middle of the field and feel more comfortable."
On building off this win:
"We've had a lot of games like this where we fight until the end but it seems like this year we are losing them all. It feels good to go 13 innings and get the win. It's a different feeling we haven't had a lot of this year but hopefully we can build off of it."
BU Designated Hitter Grayson Porter
On what the win does for the team:
"This should give us some momentum for tomorrow to come out fired up. We've been trying to come out and compete everyday as hard as we can and just give it our all but today it finally paid off for us."
On the walk-off home run:
"I knew it was gone right off the bat. That feeling is the best feeling I've ever felt. Rounding the bags and seeing your guys stack up at home plate, it was special."
