| Notes: Freshman Logan Vick has reached base safely (via hit or walk) in all 25 games this season ... Max Muncy extended his career-long streak to nine games ... Raynor Campbell saw his season-best nine-game hitting streak come to an end, but Brooks Pinckard (seven games), Landis Ware (six games) and Chris Slater (four games) all extended hitting streaks ... Pinckard stole his 17th consecutive base, dating back to last season ... Willie Kempf struck out the side in the first inning, marking the first time a BU pitcher has done so since Logan Verrett (vs. Oral Roberts on March 6) ... With eight home runs, Muncy is now one shy of the Baylor freshman record (Matt Williams hit nine in 1998) ... Baylor is now 29-24 in the all-time series with Missouri. |

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Baylor baseball couldn't hold an early lead as Missouri rallied from five runs down to avoid a series sweep by taking the finale, 13-9, Sunday afternoon at Taylor Stadium.
After Missouri had erased Baylor's lead (15-10, 3-4 Big 12), the Bears rallied from two runs down to tie the game in the seventh, but the Tigers (15-11, 2-4 Big 12) answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good.
The Bears got on the board in the top of the first when Logan Vick singled and came home to score on Raynor Campbell's sacrifice fly.
BU added four more runs to its lead in the third when Max Muncy and Gregg Glime delivered RBI singles and Landis Ware added a RBI double, ending MU starter Aaron Blunt's day after 2.2 innings and five runs allowed.
Baylor starter Willie Kempf held the Tigers hitless and struck out six batters through the first three innings, but Missouri finally got to him in the fourth.
Dane Opel doubled in a run, and Blake Brown cut the Baylor lead to 5-3 with a two-run single, chasing Kempf from the game. The senior captain allowed three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 3.1 innings, but he did not factor in the decision.
Opel doubled two more times in the game and finished the day 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead Missouri at the plate.
Vick doubled with two outs in the fifth and came home to score on Brooks Pinckard's RBI single, but Missouri answered with two runs in the bottom half as Opel drove in two runs with his second double of the game, cutting the Baylor lead to 6-5.
Muncy hit a towering home run off the Missouri football practice facility beyond the right-center field wall for his eighth longball of the year, extending Baylor's lead to 7-5, but the Tigers finally broke through and took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bears responded with two runs in the seventh to tie the game when Vick hit his sixth homer of the year, Pinckard doubled and Joey Hainsfurther tripled in the game-tying run, but Missouri took the lead for good against Kolt Browder in its next at-bat.
Browder (2-1) struck out the first two batters of the inning, but each of the next four batters singled, giving Missouri a 12-9 lead. The Tigers added on an insurance run in the eighth before Pinckard came on to get the final two outs of the inning.
Phil McCormick (3-0) picked up the win in 0.1 inning for Missouri, while Jeff Emens notched his second save. Browder was saddled with the loss after allowing a pair of earned runs in 0.2 innings.
The first four relievers to come out of the Baylor bullpen gave up two earned runs each before Pinckard kept the Tigers from adding to their lead.
Vick, Pinckard and Hainsfurther each had three hits as the top third of Baylor's lineup combined to go 9-for-14 with six runs and three RBI. It was Vick's 12th multi-hit game, but the first time he had three hits in a game.
The Bears return to action with a pair of midweek games at Baylor Ballpark. Baylor takes on Texas State on Tuesday and Northwestern State on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
