Head Coach Steve Smith
On the game:
"(Logan Verrett) pitched very well. I don't think the score of this game reflects how close it really was. Both of those guys were throwing really well tonight. The difference is that Logan was able to not go deep into his pitch count early in the game. They just never really had a real long inning against us. We had one long against (Ross) Stripling that sort of put them into a situation where they had a decision to make and I can promise you that all of our guys were happy to see him out of the game."
On Logan Verrett:
"We have put a pretty big burden on our starters. We have to get good outings from them and we haven't always had that. It was really good to see (Logan Verrett) step up tonight. The toughest decision I had tonight was whether or not to let him finish the game. You guys were watching the board just like I was. He was so strong at the end that it is so hard to go and take a guy out of the game like that when he is trying to learn how to finish something. I think he learned how to do that tonight."
On the Sunday pitching situation:
"We have a great pitching situation as long as the guys that are pitching tomorrow are good. You can look like anything on paper and not be anything. It is a game and we are playing for the championship of the series. That is really what all of these weekends are. We have the series even now and we will see how it goes tomorrow."
Sophomore RHP Logan Verrett:
On his performance:
"Working down in the pen (before the game), everything was spotting well and I felt pretty good. I just carried it over to the field. Sometimes it is questionable if you are going to have it down in the pen and in the field, but I just brought it down. Honestly, I could throw whatever I wanted because I knew that my defense was going to make plays, as you saw all night. It was just great."
On closing out the game:
"Coach Smith asked me if I wanted to finish it out, and of course the competitor inside me didn't want to come out. I just want to thank the crowd tonight, they were great. Having those guys out there tonight was what we play for. We play for them and it is just great having that. With the atmosphere that we had out here tonight, we wish that we could play for that every night."
On the offensive outburst:
"Our position players brought it to the field defensively and at the plate today. That is what we want every day when we come out. They just brought it today and it was great."
Senior C Gregg Glime
On going 3-for-3 at the plate:
"I just felt like I was seeing the ball well tonight. I took terrible batting practice and I told Landis Ware that I always hit the best after I take terrible batting practice and it held true today."
On Logan Verrett:
"He threw well. We knew our game plan. He pitched our game plan as perfect as you could. It was awesome to see what he did. He definitely deserves it."
On the importance of getting a win on Sunday:
"It is big. With how we played tonight, if we carry that into tomorrow (we have a good shot). Winning a Big 12 series would be huge for us. That is our goal every weekend. Tomorrow, hopefully we will accomplish that goal."
