Head Coach Steve Smith
On Trent Blank:
"I thought he did a good job today. We worked on it and I thought he did a good job of keeping the ball down, and using multiple pitches. I thought he was very effective. I could have run him back out there again, but at some point in time you have got to get some production out of guys who should be able to produce. In a game where they, (University of Texas) pitch as well as they do, that is the difference in the game."
On The value in getting young pitchers experience at the end of the game:
"If someone had gone out there and been lights out, then I wouldn`t have made a change. We still had a guy to go to at the end of the game. If we would have got this game tied up we still had Max Garner down there ready. Right now I am looking for some guys to step up, but until you give them the opportunity to do it you won't see that."
On the time table for Logan Vick`s return to the outfield:
"He will play some. We may DH him and then maybe get him an inning or two in the field. I am not going to rush it, but I think as long as there is no setback he should be ready by next weekend."
Junior RHP Trent Blank
On his pitching today:
"I felt pretty good today. I relied on Joey Hainsfurther`s pitch calling and my defense a lot. I didn`t have my best stuff so they really came though behind me."
On what the team can take away from this series:
"We just need to flush this series and come through. We need to focus and try to take a few wins against A&M next week. We also need to be ready and win our mid week game this week."
Senior SS Landis Ware
On the game:
"It was just one of those days today, but give credit to our guys. I thought we competed well. We did give up a few more strikeouts than we wanted to but I thought we played well today."
On getting two runs early off of Cole Green:
"It was big. I thought it gave us the momentum for the rest of the game. We didn`t take advantage of all of the opportunities we had, but it was great to get two runs early off of a good pitcher like that."
