- Baylor baseball dropped the first game of a doubleheader at Baylor Ballpark on Saturday afternoon to Dallas Baptist, 6-3. The Bears (15-19) were unable to overcome two Patriots (25-9) home runs that accounted for four runs.
Baylor fell behind 2-0 in the first as DBU scored two runs on two walks and a single with help from an error. The Bears had a chance to counter in the third with two runners on but Logan Brown popped up to end the threat.
Then DBU immediately made the missed chance hurt as Drew Turbin hit a three-run homer in the fourth. KJ Alexander launched a solo homer in the eighth to add an insurance run after the Patriots absorbed BU's three-run fifth.
In the Baylor fifth, Aaron Dodson led off with a single, Mitch Price walked and Matt Menard singled. Brett Doe drew a bases-loaded walk. Then West Tunnell and Brown followed with productive outs to drive in two more runs.
DBU's Cy Sneed (6-1) earned the win after allowing three runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Brandon Koch picked up his fifth save with 2.2 innings of scoreless ball and seven strikeouts. BU's Austin Stone (3-4) took the loss after giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks with one strikeout in 1.2 innings.
*Baylor is 14-4 at Baylor Ballpark this season.
*Baylor leads the all-time series vs. Dallas Baptist 45-23 overall, 10-7 in Dallas, 33-16 in Waco and 16-9 under Steve Smith. The Bears' six-game winning streak in the series was snapped yesterday.
*Baylor is 50-26 all-time vs. current members of the Missouri Valley Conference and now 0-2 this season.
*Prior to the series, Baylor was 2-0 in split series since 2012. The last time BU lost a split series was April 15-17, 2011, vs. Texas A&M.

*Logan Brown's season-high nine-game on-base streak and season-high four-game hitting streak both ended.
*Duncan Wendel extended his on-base streak to seven games, tying his career long streak from earlier this season.
*West Tunnell extended his career-high on-base streak to six games.
*Aaron Dodson and Matt Menard had multi-hit games with two hits apiece. It's Dodson's third multi-hit game of his freshman season. Menard moved into a tie for second in the team with his seventh multi-hit game of the season.
*Sean Spicer set a new career high with 4.1 relief innings and tied a season-high with two strikeouts.
