Head Coach Steve Smith
On Logan Verrett`s pitching:
"I thought he pitched extremely well. I thought their guy was actually just a little bit better, but both guys were outstanding and that is reflected in the score."
On what was working well for Logan Verrett on the mound:
"I think he did a good job of throwing a lot of first pitch strikes. He had them very conscious of sliders and the only thing they were really able to do was to just manufacture runs with help. They wouldn`t have scored without the error and they wouldn`t have scored without a passed ball. Their guy, late in the game, had good breaking balls and a good change up and was able to finish off a couple of our guys with fastballs. It honestly takes a lot of courage with the wind blowing out and facing the meat of the order to pitch effectively, but that is what he was able to do. That is why I think he won the ball game."
On Baylor's improvements through this series:
"We pitched better. We pitched better and gave ourselves a chance to win against a team that has some very good pitching themselves."
Sophomore 1B Max Muncy
On Logan Verrett`s performance:
"One run is never going to be enough to win in college baseball. We needed to give him more run support."
On what the team can take away from this series:
"We are making steps and will continue to move forward from here on out. It all started last weekend against Texas when we were able to win the Saturday game. From there we have been making steps forward and this just shows that we have made progress. These two teams are easily the two best teams in the conference and we just have to keep it going into next weekend."
Junior RHP Logan Verrett
On his pitching today:
"Almost everything was working for me today. I was spotting up my fastball early in the game and it was allowing me to get ahead in counts. My slider and curveball were working for me, but I really didn`t have too good of a feel for my changeup today."
On the team playing well on the road this weekend:
"I thought we played well in all three games, but especially here. This is a tough place to play. They had some big crowds both yesterday and today. I think we can take out of this series that we are playing good baseball now. We only had one error today, that is an improvement on last week when we had five errors in one game. We know we are coming out of this little skid and we know that they are ranked number five for a reason. Hopefully we can just build off of this and carry this into Tuesday and then into next weekend."
