Recap |  Box Score

Baylor head coach Steve Smith:

On Craig Fritsch's performance:

"He threw outstanding. When he came in the game we were already down two runs and they had nobody out and runners on second and third. For him to punch out the side and keep it at two was just huge for momentum. If you're Sam Houston you'd like to think that at the end of that inning you're going to feel really good about yourself, but you don't. You go on the field thinking `we just screwed up.' Craig was really good, and then he threw six more innings, so he was outstanding."

On scoring 36 runs in the past three games:

"In the last two or three ballgames the approaches have gotten better, the two-strike approach has been better, and I think guys have been seeing it better. Sunday and yesterday (Tuesday) we played with the wind in our faces, and we managed to take some good approaches and win those games. Tonight was quite the contrary, so this was a night when we needed to swing, and we needed to score a bunch of runs because anybody could have if Craig (Fritsch) doesn't have it and we've got to go deeper into the bullpen. This was a night when we needed to be good on offense."

On winning three straight games:

"Our guys know that they've dug themselves a pretty big hole to try to climb out of to get to the NCAA tournament, short of winning the conference tournament, and I think that this is reflected in how they've played."

Baylor freshman RHP Craig Fritsch:

On pitching seven innings of relief:

"I definitely had all of my pitches tonight, so it made it a lot easier. I had my slider working, my fastball was decent, and I had my change-up, so I was good to go."

On setting a Baylor Ballpark record with 10 strikeouts in relief:

"I had to get ready quickly in the bullpen, so it was great to come out and throw strikes and get those first three strikeouts; that just got me going for the rest of the game."

On taking a three-game winning streak into the weekend series against Texas:

"Now that we've got these three under our belts it's definitely going to help us. Everybody is feeling strong right now, so we're excited for this weekend."

Baylor sophomore 2B Raynor Campbell:

On the Bears' improved play in the last three games:

"We put together some hits in the last few nights, the pitching has come through, especially out of the pen with Mace (Thurman) throwing Sunday and Craig (Fritsch) today, and we're having a good approach at the plate to put the ball in play and not strikeout a whole lot. Good things are happening for us right now."

Baylor junior SS Beamer Weems:

On winning three straight games:

"Ever since that last game with Nebraska, we kind of got sick of losing in the first two. We got embarrassed a little bit, so we've come out here with a little bit of a different approach and a different attitude. The main thing was that we just got embarrassed a little bit."

On the Bears' postseason chances:

"We're just taking it one game at a time, but we know that we need to win more than we lose. If we win four, five, or six out of the next six we'll be in pretty good shape."
