THE RUNDOWN
Norman, Okla.- Baylor baseball was out-slugged by Oklahoma in a 13-7 loss on Saturday afternoon at Mitchell Park. The Bears (21-27, 6-13 Big 12) led 6-3 until the Sooners (26-22, 6-11 Big 12) poured on eight runs in the fourth to take control.

Baylor started the game very nicely as Matt Menard roped a two-run double down the left field line. OU countered with a run in the bottom half, but the Bears bounced back with a two-out, two-run single by Brett Doe in the second.

After OU responded with two runs in the second, BU got them back in the fourth on a two-run home run by Adam Toth that put the Bears up 6-3.

Then came the big Sooners fourth, as they plated eight runs on eight hits, one walk and an error off BU starter Daniel Castano and reliever Nick Lewis. The inning started with a solo homer by Hector Lorenzana and featured two-run hits by Mac James and Austin O'Brien.

OU kept the runs coming in the fifth as Sheldon Neuse and Anthony Hermelyn both had solo homers.

Castano (5-3) took the loss after allowing more than three runs for the first time in a start all season. He gave up nine runs on 12 hits and one walk with one strikeout in 3.1 innings. Robert Tasin (4-4) earned the win in relief as he gave up two runs on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings.

TWEET OF THE GAME

TOP QUOTE
"We came out and swung the bats well early against their soft-tossing left-hander. I thought they competed with Daniel [Castano] really well. In that [fourth] inning, we were a pitch away with two or three guys from keeping that to a three- or four-run inning. Just weren't able to finish guys with two strikes and it extended the inning."
- BU head coach Steve Smith
